Vegas Days Gone By: The Westward Ho
I ran across this little artifact recently, which had me thinking back to the glory days of the Westward Ho, the casino that used to sit between Circus Circus and the Stardust on the Strip. Recognizable by the big lighted umbrellas along its facade, I knew it from the coupons in Southwest Airlines' flight magazine trumpeting its $1 foot-long hot dog. Opened in 1971, it closed in 2005. The owners briefly opened another casino on Industrial Road called, simply, The Ho. There is so much wrong with that sentence I don't even know where to begin.
